Okupa – Multi-Use Urban Space | Athens, Greece
Okupa is a hybrid hotel and urban space located in the heart of Athens, conceived as a meeting point for travellers, locals, cultures, and creative disciplines. Inspired by the Spanish verb ocupar (“to occupy”), the project seeks to reimagine space as a platform for connection, collaboration, and expression.
The architecture establishes a dialogue between the existing structure and contemporary life, preserving original elements while reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. This relationship reflects the character of Athens, where historic heritage coexists with a dynamic urban culture.
The program integrates hotel rooms, a listening bar, coworking spaces, a café, restaurant, and multi-purpose areas, creating a flexible and social ecosystem. An honest material palette of exposed concrete, steel, natural wood, and textured finishes is complemented by vibrant accents and carefully selected vintage furniture.
More than a hotel, Okupa is a living, collective space, designed to be occupied, shared, and transformed by its community.
