The project proposes a comprehensive landscape design for the outdoor spaces of a residence in Santorini, set within a 5,100 sq.m. site.
At the heart of the proposal is the creation of a landscape that does not impose itself upon its surroundings, but rather follows the natural topography, embracing the terrain and revealing the distinctive character of the place. The design unfolds as a sequence of spatial experiences. Narrow pathways, courtyards, moments of pause and contemplation, water elements, and outdoor spaces for gathering are carefully woven together into a continuous spatial narrative.
Dry-stone walls, natural stone, timber, and earthy textures draw upon the materials and craftsmanship of the Cycladic landscape, while the planting palette is composed of resilient Mediterranean species, strengthening the dialogue between the designed landscape and its natural context. The pool, outdoor living areas, and more intimate secluded spaces are positioned to create a succession of distinct experiences. Each transition and pause offers a new perspective, while the shifting views across the landscape give every point its own particular character.
The aim is to create a contemporary, restrained, and immersive landscape in which architecture and nature coexist without competing. Rather than defining a rigid boundary between the built and the natural, the design seeks to blur their relationship, transforming everyday inhabitation into a sequence of quiet, authentic moments.
