Alkyna Lifestyle Beach Resort by Ella Resorts is set on the steep, lush hillside of Agios Gordios in Corfu, overlooking the Ionian Sea and set against the backdrop of the imposing rock. AMK Architecture & Design undertook the radical transformation and integration of heterogeneous existing volumes, creating a unified and understated whole—an architectural intervention that redefines the relationship between hospitality and landscape.
The design integrates seamlessly into the natural terrain, drawing on a palette of stone, earth-toned plaster, timber and metal details. Inside, understated elegance meets a timeless Mediterranean aesthetic, with natural textures and colours inspired by the earth, stone and Corfu’s distinctive traditional purples.
A striking entrance, organic forms, generous openings and the inventive design of the SPA create an atmosphere of tranquillity and effortless luxury. Water features and shading elements further enhance the bungalows and guest rooms, while the architecture subtly dissolves the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, bringing natural light, the horizon and the surrounding landscape into the hospitality experience.
