The complete renovation and revitalization of the September Hotel Thessaloniki is a design exercise that oscillates between evoking the past and the scenographic invention of an almost imaginary world.
The experience begins at the new entrance, inspired by the film Great Expectations (1998), and in particular, the Paradiso Perduto mansion. It creates an environment reminiscent of a lost paradise· mystical, surreal, almost dreamlike.
The lobby design constructs a spatial narrative that balances the familiar with the imaginary. Tactile materials, filtered light, and reflections enhance the sensory experience, while historical elements are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The composition respects the site's legacy, introducing a new identity of understated theatricality and timeless elegance.
The September Bistro is structured in three spatial zones, offering a gradual unfolding of atmosphere and experience. Materiality, tonal transitions, and the dialogue between interior and exterior define an environment of understated luxury and architectural coherence. The design intent centers on the balance between functionality and sensory engagement.
